    A Retinoid I can get behind!

    The texture is beautiful making it pleasant on the skin when I wear it. I was nervous using it initially as my skin is sensitive and I didn't know how it would respond to it. The first few times I used the balm I used the tip of having a moisturizer on the face first and then I gradually worked up to using the balm on its own. My skin responded super well to it overall and I found each morning when I woke up my skin felt super moisturized and glowy. I will continue to use it as time passes now.

    Absolutely perfect

    SKIN PROFILE: 39 years old, sensitive, Type I rosacea. After postpartum hormone shifts damaged my barrier and triggered rosacea, I took a year-long break from all exfoliants.

    THE GOAL: I was primarily targeting a tough, leathery "orange peel" texture. I needed to restore hydration, luster, and softness, with the hope of also softening some fine lines.

    THE VERDICT: I am obsessed. This product is soooo gentle yet incredibly effective—a rare combo for my reactive skin. It has never caused irritation or breakouts, which is a miracle given my history.

    I use it 3–4x a week over a base of Vanicream or Tower 28 SOS Recovery Cream, and it pairs perfectly with both. The results are mind-boggling; the next day, my skin feels so plump and fine-textured that I can’t stop touching my face. It creates such a smooth canvas that my foundation glides on like a dream. It feels fundamentally different from other retinols and exfoliants I've used which had more of a "no pain, no gain" effect. La Pommade is the only retinol product I've used where I feel like I'm giving something additive to my skin, not stripping something out for the promise of a long-term gain. I noticed a difference after the first use and I continue to see more positive benefits the longer I use it. No more orange peel texture—just flat, hydrated, supple skin!
